In the news: Whirlpool announces further recall of faulty Hotpoint washing machines

 

Whirlpool is recalling another 55,000 washing machines from UK homes, after adding an extra 21 models to its list of 524,000 Hotpoint and Indesit machines that pose a fire risk. They have been recalling washing machines since January 2020 after discovering a fault where the door locking system can overheat creating the risk of fire.  These machines have been sold since October 2014. 

This is the third announcement from Whirlpool since August 2019.  If you’ve previously checked your model and been given the all clear, you may still need to check again.    

 

Your safety is important

If you have one of these washing machines, we urge you to unplug it immediately and stop using it. You should contact Whirlpool to find out if you’re affected.

Stay safe by checking your appliances regularly

Between 2018 and 2019 there were 584 reported domestic fires caused by washing machines in England alone. *  It’s important that you check your washing machine regularly and that it’s not left on if you’re out of the house.
